One of 2 feeders in the works.I can't get to the other feeders because of the bottomless mud. It's been the wettest year on record here in OK. My only choice is to build a couple of light weight emergency feeders and put them on dry ground. This style has no gate(unlike the feeders I normally build), a problem if the loader tractor breaks down. My regular feeders can be loaded with a 3pt bale spike if there's a problem with the other tractor. The corner posts are 11ga instead of the 3/16 I normally use, and there's no apron at the bottom. I've found that aprons serve no purpose other than collecting rotten hay and moisture.Anyhoo.................. Dimensions are 6x6, 48" tall. Materials: 11ga corner posts, 3" medium weight channel, and 2x2 11ga uprights/pickets Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Looks good Sam the cows will be chowing on high ground woo hoo..Hope they can get around without getting stuck it's gotta be hard on em....and ya the ground will never soak up this water maybe by the 4th of July then not a drop for a few months Yup I'M in OK also....in the hills and valleys over here about 20 miles east of Mcalester and it is tooooo wet for sure We been waiting to put a couple metal roofs on, and build a carport barn type structure. just some box tube and tin, but it's tooo wet to even drag stuff with the 4-wheeler out there. Good luck getting out in the bush and back if you gotta, I just tried the other day and had to pull the dump truck and trailer out, at least it didn't twist the trailer pulling the truck with it LOL.....I can usually get in there with those duallys as long as I'M empty, not this time...probably not for a long timeLincoln 225 Tombstone,Miller Big 20,Hobart 180,150' Argon,A/D hobart hood 22 Ton Log splitter,79 F350 dump eats 4.75 TONS and still turns cutters, grinders,And a Hypertherm POWERMAX 30
Reply:any thoughts on putting some large feet on the bottom?looks excellent!
Reply:When things dry out Sam you can then use them for a playpen for your kids! Or put a hot tube inside with wood trim on the outside. Invite a couple of Bikini's over and you are good to go!
Reply:It was too wet here in Tx also and couldn't get to my feeder, stuck my tractor twice in the same day. Had to put the bale on a pallet...dumb arse cow hooked the middle of the bale when she was taking a hay bath and rolled the center right out of it. Butchering time is almost here. |
