My brother did this a while ago.  He was trying to repair a jam or something in his nailer, and didn't unhook the air hose...... Reply:Just proves that children must never play with grownups tools.
Reply:it just goes to show how you all ways have to be vigilant and not become too comfy with your surroundings and tools. I saw a  guy nail his hand to a board a while ago they had the guns that you just had to hold the trigger down and bang the tip that was before the regulations were changed to only allow the gun to shoot once per trigger pull. in any case he was rapidly nailing down boards and went over his hand (which was in a glove) and nailed it twice to the pallet he was repairing  we cut the board off and sent him to the hospital. needless to say ever after that he was called 10pennyAfter the arc has died the weld remains

Reply:Seeing that makes me cringe, I've had my share of booboos from working and know that smarts, not at first but afterwards, I broke my thumb with a high powered drill and hole saw that jumped when the bit grabbed  and it about cut my thumb off, it did break the bone and split my thumbnail at the base, it really smarted when that split grew out and now I have 2 thumbnails on that hand, lol. It grew back as two seperate nails. They'll have to remove the nail and let it grow back to fix it, but I'm not going to do that until I'm unemployed again so I have healing time.MAC WS1110 Mig WelderWoodworker HobbyistDelta 10" Table Saw, Delta Planer, Bosch and Craftsman Routers, 48" Craftsman Lathe, drill press, 1/2" hand and cordless drills, scroll saw, skill saws, jig saws, etc, and too many hand tools to list, lol
Reply:Why'd he go to the hospital?  A pair of pliers would have easily fixed that.  BTDT.My name's not Jim....
Reply:seeing something like that makes me queasy, my brother did that in his knee when he was 16 and he had to use the pliers, noway dad was going to take him to the doc. screw ups happen so fast a lot of the time you dont even realize your taking a risk until its to late, then its time to pay the piperDo not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Reply:It does hurt more coming out, I'll give ya that.  I kinda like cutting out the middle man though.  I won't pay for something I can do myself.  I don't like doctors much either.  I've had to pay over $1500 to find out I had a fever (that's why I went in the first place).  Not once but twice. My name's not Jim....
Reply:I knew a guy in school who nailed his hand to a deck as well as his foot on a 2 seperate occasions. Not the brightest tool in the shed.A family member working in a cabinet shop slipped one day and had a brad gun go off. Other than a welt and a sore hand he thought he escaped lucky because the mag was empty. 6 months later he was having issues with his arm and went to se the doc. Doc took x rays and asked him how long it's been since he broke his hand. He told the doc he'd never broken his hand. Doc showed him the xray with the pin in his bone. Must have been the last nail in the gun..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:In my passed life I was a carpenter for about 10 years or so. We were always shooting our selves or cutting things off , or falling..lol..atleast it was a small gauge nail still sorta a shocker when you do it. I wish I had pics of a apprentice that worked on my crew that shot a 3" nail into his knee, it was buried in there.....any ways great picJerodHypertherm 30Miller Syncrowave 200Millermatic 140and a propane torch and hanger if all else fails
Reply:hard to imagine that he actually took the time to take a picture of the nail in the hand..........if someones wanted to take a picture of that.....I'd be pissed.  they should be trying to get me to the doctor!!!

Reply:Brings a whole new meaning to "getting nailed" .... glad to hear he missed all the bones and is doing okay.
Reply:I worked in residential construction for about 8 years and had a few close calls, but never anything major.  I think the worst was when i put a 1 inch sliver through the muscle at the base of my thumb.  I tired pulling it out, but the blood began to soften the wood and i was limited to pliers and utility knives.  I went to an Urgent Care facility right down the road which was a joke.  The Dr. (not sure he was one) told me to wait it out and the sliver would eventually come out.  Even my lack of medical training knew that wasn't going to happen.  I told him to grab a scalpel and just cut it out.  His reply was, "Oh, no...thats surgery, we don't do that here."  Still cracks me up.  I told him to give it to me and i would do it.  I eventually got it out.
