I have a Lincoln Electric Welding hood, when i am tig welding i get light inside the hood, is that normal? Or should i be concerned? Thanks in advance gentlemen.
Reply:Where's the light coming in from? reflection off your shirt, from behind, or a light leak around the lens?
Reply:You're going to need to be more specific. Where is the light coming in? and how bright is it?Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools

Reply:Thanks for responding, I don't know where the light is coming from, I assume from the open sides at the bottom of the good. Not sure, just wondering if there should be light in there.
Reply:Light can come from behind you or be reflected up from a white shirt, but it should not be leaking in direct from the arc. You can wear a dark shirt, add a leather chin guard or adjust your helmet to sit closer to your chin. If from behind, you can add a cloth over the back of your head / helmet. Or turn off the light behind you or reposition it. It could also be arc reflecting off something behind you and into the helmet. Evn if it's not harmful it's very annoying and makes it very difficult to see what the heck you're doing. Eliminate it as much as you can.ps what shade are you using? Hopefully at least 10 and not using a #5 shade for OA, correct? |
