Made a set of bars for a friends Harley the other day. Origonally it had straight bars on it but he wanted to put the cables inside the pipes. 1" x .083 s/s hydraulic tubing.....Mike Attached Images
Reply:those are some nice looking bars. cant wait to see them on your bike.  been looking at making some useing chain link myself to go on my softail.  when you buy a bike it is only a down payment for the accessories. If you like my stuff you can find me on Facebook.  https://www.facebook.com/theangryanv...ngryanvilforge
Reply:Thanks for the compliment. Not for my bike, I've got a Kawi 1500 which needless to say causes a lot of flack as most of the people here who ride have Harleys. The bike is being rebuilt by a guy at work for another fellas father. According to what I've been told they completely stripped it down, powder coated and polished whatever they could. I intend to get some pics when it's finished, if so I'll post them.....Mike
Reply:Great bars, forget the harley-only crowd, a bike's a bike...!
Reply:....a bike's a bike...!
Reply:Mike, that is some bad-assed work, damn nice job   Yup, same with me, I don't care what anyone rides.... Then I hung it off his bike so the writing was out so it was seen by all.I came out the next day and he had put a set of pink streamers on mine so as they say, paybacks a bitch.Me, I could care less what brand, good price and I like it I'll buy it.....Mike
Reply:Victory is also made in the USA. Buy American made!
Reply:So what. People are entitled to buy what they want, no matter where it's built.  As a matter of fact, my next bike will probably be a BMW.I don't know about others, but I'm getting sick and tired of "buy American" voiced here and on other forums. Reply:Were the bars made with deuce risers? What is wrong with being proud of your country and supporting it by buying products manufactured there?  What kind of bikes are canadian made?

Reply:Please stop with the brand bashing. I deal with it too much in the real world.I've owned several makes of bikes, ridden more (Harley, Honda, Kawi, Yamaha, Triumph--classic, not current--, BMW, and a few more), and currently own both a Harley and a Honda. The Harley is a great travel bike, but isn't a daily rider for me. Too heavy for around town (92 softail). The Honda (VFR) is a great all around bike at half the weight and twice the power, and super handling on most any road under any conditions. The harley handles like crud off the highway. The Harley is like riding a couch for an 800 mile day. The honda is uncomfortable after 300 miles.Different machines, different purposes. Neither is particularly more reliable (the '92 is a MAJOR improvement over my previous harley experience-- a '67), or particularly less maintainance, but the Honda is less hassle overall, despite the fairings that need to come off for every little job. Both are very enjoyable to ride, in their place.BTW: as for the buy american... the Harley is assembled in the USA, but a lot of the parts are foreign (carbs, engine components, bearings, accessories, etc. Every time I check the oil, I look at "made in Korea" on the stock oil tank plug/temp gauge) My current Honda is japanese manufacture, but my previous one was US assembled. Side note: Anyone see the new Kia factory in the latest AWS journal? In Georgia? Or drive a Nissan built in Tennessee? Or a Dodge built in Yokohama or Mexico? There is no american made or japanese made, or.... Welcome to the world economy, folks.

Reply:None, but again, what's the point?   Wouldn't matter one bit if I was American, I'd buy what I damned welll pleased, and lots of Amercan's do given the state of the U.S. auto industry, as an example.  Originally Posted by cdbush28What is wrong with being proud of your country and supporting it by buying products manufactured there?  What kind of bikes are canadian made?
Reply:Good points, particularily the last one.  My Sporty has Showa forks, Keihin carb, and Toshiba electrics, all from the factory.  As for Honda, they're closing, if they already haven't, Marysville Ohio, for motorcycle production.   New plant going up in Canada, and one in Japan to handle the big crusisers (Gold Wing, and VFX). Reply:Don't trust machinests measuring GBG.I said to him when he drilled the piece of angle I used to bolt the bars to "Are you sure the trees are 3 1/4" c/c? " For some reason it just didn't sound right, I didn't remember the 1/4" measurement for some reason. "yep" was the reply so he drilled the angle and I built the bars to suit.He came in the next Monday morning with a s**ta** grin on his face holding the bars. The bolt centers were 3 1/2".Had to cut them apart in the center and add a piece he machined to make up the difference. I actually think it adds a bit to it, not that I'd admit it to him LOLPhone pics so excuse the quality.....Mike Attached Images
