I in a tech schools "CSCC". I I just pass my first class "stick" Just started the Mig class . I did gas today 90% argon 10% co2 and liked it. I was wonder what type makes more for a small garage odd jobs. School is not any help with this as all our machines are top of line 480v Lincolns. I don't have a 220v at this time but have a 25 amp 110v with nothing else on the line as I checked. So does a small 110 stick like the harbor freight 80amp stick Few classmates have it and it is a nice easy to arc and easy to use, duty cycle is 20% but for I am in no rush and use the 3/16 sticks? Or does saving up for say a Lincoln 140hd or Hobart handler 140 make one sense? I well be mostly restoring vintage vespa scooters body work and fixing whatever odd jobs or maybe make a go kart or roll cage with friends. I gotten good at not burning through thin metal with stick. Can a small mig do everything a small stick can and do and more or do I really need both of them in the long run?
Reply:SMAW and OXY?FUEL welding will teach you more about welding than any other processes. With them under your belt you can weld any common metals that are commonly welded. Do a search about "110v" and read for days. Or continue this thread and we'll get yet another thread on the subject covering the same material for the unteenth time.
