I am looking for a good tape measure holder for my 25' fat max. I have had 4 if the clc brand and the snap keeps breaking on them. I'm getting sick of replacing it. What do you all use?
Reply:I always just keep mine on my belt. Always wondered about those holders. What is the advantage of using one?Safety 3rdGump
Reply:I have the reg old chrome and yellow Stanley and I use a CLC leather that I tore off the strap & snap. It stays in there until I start doing cartwheels. (I don't have a positioner)But seriously, I never had a problem with it falling out."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"

Reply:I have that same clc one as pictured above. I am a pipe welder and I am always monkeying around in pipe racks and i get sick of it falling off my belt. I do a lot in food plants also with people walking below me so it would be really bad to drop a big ol' heavy fat max on somebody's head. On the bench I use my small tape measure but the fat max is nice when you are pulling measurements by yourself in the field. I have a friend that makes custom pistol holsters out of kydex and leather so if I can't find anything I may see if he can build me one.

Reply:I just stick mine in my bolt bag.

Reply:I use this one, but I had to add a strip of stainless to the loop for the tape to slid on/off. Work much better with my mod. I use a 25' Dewalt wide tape. Last edited by mckutzy; 03-31-2012 at 02:33 PM.

Reply:If it's just the snaps that go bad, you can buy replacement snaps. I think I saw some at either Depot or Lowes the other day while getting some grommets for a tarp. You can probably also get better ones for leather at specialty places like Tandy.http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/e..._keyword=snaps.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Here you go, space for a 30' tape, a 10" adjustable, a clip loop on the bottom for a striker, a loop for a marker, and a keel holder pocket.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:As far as contact info, all I can remember is the guys name was Bob Leal. I haven't stepped foot in the Local 7 hall in over 10 years.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:Denrep, the problem with that one is it will probably never get rolled back up, and the other guys on the job will probably try and walk off with it as soon as your back is turned..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
