Has anyone ever tig welded a bracket to the base of a Motorguard 60 filter?I'm trying to design a cart for my new plasma cutter and I was wondering how people have mounted this popular filter to their carts. Reply:Use the mounting bracket that is supposed to come with it. Bolt or weld the bracket on, then bolt the motor guard to the bracket. The mounting ears on the motor guard will allow almost any angle. Open and let the filter dry out when not using it. That way you can get 1 filter element to last a long time. Replace when oily or falling apart. If a soaking wet filter is left in the housing for mounts on end, It will damage the inside coating and cause the housing to release white powder . If there isn't a filter between the plasma and the motor guard and this powder is released is can mess up the plasma.
Reply:I see the mounting ears, but got no bracket with mine.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:I just bent & welded one up that looked similar to the factory bracket."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:I would just fab a custom bracket that does what you want. I think the filter housing is cast aluminum, and it should be considered a pressure vessel. Plus welding will ruin the finish.Mine is just suspended in-line with the lines on each side held with clamps.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
Reply:If you make your own mounting bracket you get to choose where the back mounting holes go.
