Bought a Dialarc HF-P a few weeks ago, came with all the goodies. I'm thinking the tank of argon is very old, was wondering if it goes bad after a while.Hobart Engine Driven DC stick, Chry slant 6AO Smith A225ULincoln SP 175T Miller Dialarc HF-PJD Squared ModIII Tube Bender
Reply:Short answer:  NO.Longer answer:  No.  Only way for the gas in a pressurized cylinder to be 'bad' (contaminated) is for the cylinder to be empty (in which case there is no more gas in there) or the gas to have originally been contaminated (from/at the time of the fill).Completely ignoring the astronomically slim odds of someone cross-connecting two different high-pressure gas cylinders with diffferent fill gases and contaminating the gas contents that way.An 'old' cylinder may no longer be fit for service if it was 'abused' via external rust or other physical damage though.  But that is the physical cylinder, not the gas inside the cylinder.  The best laid schemes ...
