Reply:Hi kibby123...I assume pictures are in reverse order: after then before? In my case, I find that with little to no effort on my part, I can go from pic-2 to pic-1 in a matter of just a few years.Rick V 1 Airco Heliwelder 3A/DDR3 CTC 70/90 amp Stick/Tig Inverters in Parallel1 Lincoln MIG PAK 151 Oxy-Acet

Reply:Wow.. that project is exceptional.  And sparks a ton of questions. How did you do the nomenclature / label.. is that hand painted, or did you create new decals/ vinyl cut appliques. How many parts did you have to purchase / or manufacture from scratch?Did you metal work those front hubcaps back into shape then rechrome, or make/ buy two new ones? How hard a project was the seat recovering?Any other tidbits you'd be willing to share?Again, really impressive work.zip

Reply:Nice restore!  The pics brings back memories from my youth.  My dad bought one of those many years ago and I spent many summers cutting many, many, blades of grass with it.  It was a great workhorse back then and would put many of the modern day riding lawn tractors to shame today!  Good job!A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter   Victor O/A
Reply:Of all the projects I have done this one gets the most interest. People have great memories of these old tractors. I love bringing one back from the dead. to answer some of the questions, the decals are reproductions done a a local vinyl graphics company, they did an excellent job on them. This was a complete tractor not missing any parts so I didn't have to purchase any, but some were in bad shape so I had some time in getting them back to usable condition. The hubcaps are new, $20 verses $90 to have the old ones re- chromed. The seat was also done buy a local upholster. I used PPG base coat clear coat paint on it, not sure if I like the PPG, I usally use dupont because it seems to be a little more user friendly than the PPG is but over all it came out good. This was the first  sears suburban I worked on but I don't think it will be the last I may try to find one to do for my self. thanks for all the compliments, it is appreciated.
Reply:Really really nice!  Kinda nice to see the bartering system at work.  You traded your skills and he traded his money.  Not quite like chickens for grain but sorta similar, huh?(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah:  Go Big Red!   (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)

Reply:Oh the terrible thing about lawn tractorsMiddle of the day, hot out, and you cruise by and see the lady of the house on the lawnmowerIn Skimpy ShortsAround here at least.........It's a marvel of structural engineering that the tractor will support the dear old girlThe tractor seat is hidden by HUMAN SADDLEBAGSShe has a 2 gallon Biggy Gulp in her hand, and a strategicaly placed bag of candy somewhere on the tractor.  OH, THE HORROR!!!!!!"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Wow! Amazing job there.  I have a pic of myself sitting on my Dad's lap riding on one of these.  I couldn't have been more than 2 years old.  I'm 36 now.  The tractor was my grandfather's who passed away shortly before I was born.  Thanks for the memories and once again, great job.
