I plan on buying a MIG pretty soon, it will only be for hobby use. My garage only has 110 and no 220, so it would have to be 110. Here are my choices: The HTP America MIG 140, Millermatic 140, or Millermatic 140 w/ autoset. What do ya'll think? Good choices? Comments. Questions. Different ideas. Thanks Art...O/A Set-Up Radnor Gauges WH26FC  Welding Torch CA25       Cutting Attachment 0 TipThat is it for now...More to come later...

Reply:I have been very happy with a Miller Passport Plus that I have. You can use it on 110 or 240. Has a spool gun for aluminum, takes a 12 oz paintball co2 tank internally or hook it to a large bottle. Don't know what your needs are, but it has been great for packing it to places where I only need to put down a foot of weld at familys homes. It is more $$$, but it lays down a great bead with only co2 ( one of the best small welders IMO with just co2 welding)
Reply:No 220v outlet or  the old lady's dryer you can unplug? Unless she is like mine and it never stops running so i could unplug it
Reply:If you're limited to 110, look at the Hobarts.  That's one area where Hobart would definitely be my pick.  I would also consider them for the 220v lineup, but the competition is a bit tighter there with respect to value. In other words, IMO, Lincoln or Miller do not make a product that's much (if any) better than Hobart does, when it comes to the small mig machines.Proud to be a UNION worker.  Better pay, better benefits, better work environment.  UA Unions = working for the working class!!
Reply:Engloid has a very good point. The hobart handler is a good machine. Just do yourself a favor, and get one of the name brand machines. Just plain and simple, they are more durable, they weld better, less issues, and parts/ consumables are easy to get at a local welding shop. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:I would check out the new MillerMatic 211. It is a new machine that has daul voltage input and is only the size of the MM140. This way you will have the 220 machine when you need it or have the power for it when you grow.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:I would buy a Lincoln 140 C over a Hobart 140. The Hobart just does not wet the puddle out as well as the Lincoln does. The Hobart is really nice way down low but that is about it. The Passport has the most power of any 120 volt mig, so it is not a bad option if you want one of the best 120/240 volt machines. The smaller 240 volt Hobarts are my favorites in that range and I do like them better then the Lincoln 180C
