My shaky welding start

Just in case you thought things like this only happen to you.Dug out my little OA set that I have never used for anything but blazing and cutting occasionally.Right away I notice that the acy. reg. needed both gauges replaced,one damaged and the other stuck.Off I go to Airgas and got the two gauges,now I can see if these alumiweld rods work at all.Not to be,no more than got started and ran out of gas,back to Airgas to pick up some acy.Now at last I can get started,what the new bottle is empty,so says the new gauge,back to Airgas.No problem,the guy said this sometimes happens with acy,say it's hard on the bottle seals.Well I finally got to alumiweld and after some practicing I got it to do the job,it's not for serious aluminum welding projects but will suffice nicely for what I needed.I hope things take an up turn from here !
