Havent posted anything in a whyle, had a good repair recently that was quite intresting.. Believe it or not but this Labounty Attachment only had 500 hours on it! Used 3.5 spools of  Lincoln 71M Fluxcore... 1/16". The attachment has 7 tool holders that had worn through the holder and into the replaceable bits..... What abuse! I finalized the repair with a 1" plate of AR400 on the bottom of both halves in hopes to slow the wear. Attached Images

Reply:Very nice work fchesser78, that's a lot of wear for 500hrs use. Are you using 60lb coils of Lincore?Matt
Reply:That is some beautiful FCAW welding. You are obviously an expert.  Most impressive.
Reply:Since they wore it out in 500 hrs, you should just have them schedule a time with you ever 4 months or so to get it redone! Nothing like a nice steady account you can count on. Nice work BTW..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Thanks, I thought this was one worth mentioning. I use 23lb spools in a Miller suitcase I run off of a miller 400p. I ended up with 54 total hrs in the repair minus travel time... 4 days about 2 hours from my house.    Keep tearing it up and I will keep fixin' it!
Reply:Nice Work, Where was the repair? I work in Spartanburg SC. Down the rd from you.  Beautiful Fluxcore welding.....
Reply:The job was in Grensboro N.C. Our company has a shop there.... I am the only welder in both North and South Carolina, So I travel all around! Thankfully I am buisy!!!
Reply:I'm still trying to figure exactly what it is and how it works, .. It looks like a cross between a clam bucket and a scraper. Reply:LaBounty will make you stuff that can pretty much use up a Cat245 if you want them too. I imagine they would be some fun folks to have in the neighborhood, maybe former military?Matt
Reply:Ah, rock-paper-scissors.In this case, scissors (machine jaws) beats rock (concrete).  Yeah, that was just a wee bit 'o welding there laddie.    The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...

Reply:Beautifull work fair play... 500hrs of getting tortured to death...not bad going
Reply:Great work. Those welds look awesome.Nothing is fool-proof, to the substantially talented fool!Help me, I can't drink all of this beer myself.
Reply:Great rebuild job!   I know you said it is Abrasive Resistant  plate, but wouldn't some hardfacing  weld beads [say in a waffle or herringbone pattern] on the working surfaces help get much more hours of service til the next repair?Last edited by Alphonse; 08-01-2010 at 02:30 PM.
Reply:Thanks Alphonse! Hardfacing was surely an option I gave our sales department.... Due to the hours in the repair, they decided to just go with the plating.... Their money, their call. It definately would help it in the future to hardface.
