OK fellas, I'm in a bit of a bind, I'm prepping for a pipe test and not sure what code it would fall under. here are some specs:2" .450 wall- GTAW Root and Hotpass, then 7018 from there out. Now, what code would this be? API 1104 API 510 or API 570??????????Thanks guys!
Reply:Well I doubt very much that it would be 1104 as this is the domain of the 6010. And I have no idea about the rest of the codes over there apart from the API650I'd rather be hunting........USE ENOUGH HEAT.......Drifting around Aussie welding more pipe up, for something different.....wanting to get home.
Reply:Thats what i was thinking that it couldn't be 1104 i didn't realize that i listed that code, either way, not sure what code it is.......im sure there are some CWI out there!
Reply:Doesn't the person who ordered the test, or the person who is administering the test, know what code they will be testing you to ???MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:API 510 is an inspection code for in service pressure vessels, 570 is an inspection, repair, modification code for in service piping.1104 covers welding of pipelines and related facilities. There are literaly rail car loads of consumables other than 6010 used in 1104 work. 6010 in the U.S. is reserved for the stringer in transmission land, it's sometimes used for fill/cap in low pressure distribution land.Flux core, hard wire, tig consumables, 7010, 8010, 7018, 8018, stainless stick, lot's of things are burnt up in work done under 1104.JTMcC.

Reply:i would do nothing different, but i just want to know what code they are going to use on the cert.
Reply:I like to know what I can get away with, if their paying for 1104 then that's what they get, if ASME 9.......I'd rather be hunting........USE ENOUGH HEAT.......Drifting around Aussie welding more pipe up, for something different.....wanting to get home. |
