D.O.T Welding Test

I am currently up at Suny Delhi in NY working on my A.W.S tests. on March 10th we are taking the NY D.O.T ( 1 inch thick plate). the thing is... i dont live in NY! I live in CT and most likely will be working in the state of CT. What is the CT D.O.T like? any different?

Reply:should of done my test on ACgot that arc blow at the last inch and a half of my root pass= failthey are coming back the 17th of april though, another shot!
Reply:If you had really had arc blow on you NY DOT test then you did not fail. That said I doubt you had arc blow. Reply:I must remember that excuse I'd rather be hunting........USE ENOUGH HEAT.......Drifting around Aussie welding more pipe up, for something different.....wanting to get home.
Reply:ha...well believe it or not, i got either arc blow or my rod angle was too steep, its not an excuse it was my own fault.what makes you guys think i didnt have arc blow? just curious.

Reply:If you get arc blow you deal with it, crank the rod over, twist it, whatever it takes.  If it's not right then you do the repair.  (It may have been flux heavier on one side than the other)  so you deal with that to.I'd rather be hunting........USE ENOUGH HEAT.......Drifting around Aussie welding more pipe up, for something different.....wanting to get home.

Reply:Joscerb55,I would be very surprised if the coupons you were provided had enough of a magnetic field to produce arc blow. Even with poor placement of ground. If they in fact did I would challenge the test. Additionally, changing to AC is not likely an option. The WPS will need to be followed.
