welding a saddle

hey does any one know the formula for cutting a saddle on pipe, say 4"to 6" or vise versa i think you can take the saddle pipe and draw a circle of that diameter and take the radius of the other branch pipe to make your marks?just not sure been awhile since welding class!!! any help would be greatly appreciated, i know im too cheap to buy the little black book!
Reply:What would work best is to go to your LWS and purchase 1 Step Pipe Templets, but seeing as you are trying to be "Thrifty"  ....
