hey does any one know the formula for cutting a saddle on pipe, say 4"to 6" or vise versa i think you can take the saddle pipe and draw a circle of that diameter and take the radius of the other branch pipe to make your marks?just not sure been awhile since welding class!!! any help would be greatly appreciated, i know im too cheap to buy the little black book!
Reply:What would work best is to go to your LWS and purchase 1 Step Pipe Templets, but seeing as you are trying to be "Thrifty"  .... There are other ways:http://www.harderwoods.com/tools.htmlYes, it is a Woodworking site, but the pipe joint software is fairly accurate for smaller bores, so all you need is a tape measure, and a printer to make your own custom templets and off you go.That is about as "Thrifty" as I can help you be.Coping pipe has been discussed at length on this and many other sites.  If you choose to use the search function, you will come across many other methods to achieve your end goal.Last edited by Black Wolf; 03-16-2009 at 03:25 PM.Later,Jason

Reply:Or, you can notch your pipe with a saw.  The following calculator works well for me:http://snip.awardspace.com/
