Anyone know of a company that will sell and ship some 3/8" coupons and 6" sch 40 pipe at a decent price?
Reply:Just curious as to why you'd need it shipped. Shipping charges might suck, depending on how many pieces of pipe you're getting. If someone on this forum wants to ship you coupons, they could stuff a bit into usps.com flat rate boxes, as the limit is $70 lbs, and costs about $10.50 to ship via 2-3 day air mail.-AaronJet 17.5" Drill Press1942 South Bend 16x84 Lathe1980s Miller 320A / BP --- 2013 Power Mig 2562012 Jet 7x12 Horizontal BandsawVictor O/A Setup
Reply:Metal is very heavy. You should edit your User Control Panel (User CP- above left) to add where you live so we can help you find some place close, or you will be putting your money into the trucking business. Many metal salvage / scrap yards sell new as well as used metal of all shapes and sizes. Your best bet would be to find one near you and see what they have. You might also find machine and fabrication shops in your area and see if they will sell you their drops (scrap). It may require some dumpster diving, but they may even give you some if you promise to bring it back after you practice with it so they can send to the salvage yard. If you buy new and have them pre-cut it to your specs you will pay full price for the steel as well as their time, so you will be better off if you can cut it to size yourself. The prep work (cutting, grinding, cleaning) is part of learning to weld so you had better get used to it.CharleyMiller MM252Miller Bobcat 225NTMiller DialArc HF / DIY Cooler2 Victor O/A TorchsetsMilwaukee 8" Metal SawMilwaukee Dry Cut "Chop" Saw 5 Ton Wallace Gantry Various Grinders, Benders, etc.
Reply:Didn't need a whole lot but it would be more cost efficient to do some scouting and find it locally at shops. And I didn't think of the scap yard. That's a good idea...appreciate the replies
Reply:Where are you located?
Reply:If you have any fitting skills, you could buy a short section of pipe and make your own. If your not skilled as a fitter, your local machine shop can make em for you, at a greater cost of course.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720 |
