Torch gets HOT! part 2..

Without hijacking Gamble's thread here is a GOOD example of what happens to a WP-20 when it gets REAL HOT over the years..Study the pics..The one on the right is only a few weeks old.(I burned up the cables but kept the torch head)..The one on the left I have been using for around 4 years now.See the bend?NO GOOD.It has bent itself into this position all by itself with all the amps I push thru this thing..Lately the tungsten has been falling out all by itself no matter how tight the back cap gets..The collet inside was all twisted out of shape and it's brand new.These can get so hot that they will not "Melt" but distort so bad they become useless.Now that I changed it to the good one everything seems way better that yesterday.So YES these will get REAL hot so be careful out there.....zap!Last edited by zapster; 06-06-2012 at 06:01 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:DAMNIT!  thats whats been going on with my current WP-20.  I was starting to drop the tungsten and i was to impatient and pizzed off to deal with it so i switched back to the ole ideal arc.It has the same bend in it too.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
