Started this thread to avoid HiJacking the other one. When I asked about using HF on my Power Mig in TIG mode, the Lincoln Rep told me that it would whack out the machine. He said that if someone was using the PowerMig 350MP and another user was in the lab using a HF Tig unit that the Mig would act up.My thought was that I could just us my HF module inline as I do with the Ranger 9. I don't get it. Why is it that you can use HF on a tig unit and the tig unit doesn't act up? They have electronics too.....I am sure if I sit and think it through I could come up with a possible reason.Does anyone actually know? Reply:The HF can damage circuit boards in the machine if it has them things like V sense and Pulse
Reply:HF travels all over the place. That is how it can create the spark to start the arc.It travels along with the DC in your leads. It can go through the ground and back to other things.HF will turn the computer on in my shop when I am using it on the other side of the shop and my wires ARE in conduit.I use Touch start when welding on a car or truck with all those fancy electronics.David Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor. |
