I'm wondering if any of you guys know how thick of steel can you weld with a Lincoln Precision TIG 225, in tig mode? I'm thinking of getting one. I've got a Lincoln Power MIG 180c and have started welding more 1/4" steel for architectural stuff but my 180c just won't penetrate. If you've got a better suggestion for a machine that will TIG 1/4" steel easily let me know!
Reply:It will do 1/4 aluminum no problem. Max is prob around 5/16-3/8. I had a Square wave pro 175 and 1/4 was about max on that. Get an old Miller 330 A/BP if u want to do basically unlimited thickness Al TIG. If I remember from mine it maxes at 465 amps AC .. But over 200 amps u really need a water cooled torch...Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.
