Hi, new to welding,  got a sip migmate 135t, can i use a nitrogen single stage twin gauge regulator for argon 5%c02? the fitting is the same as my gas bottle and the gauges are marked out the same as argon regulator, also the max inlet pressure is the same as an argon reg, the max outlet is a little higher at 28bar 400lbf/in2.
Reply:It's not really the right type of regulator for MIG welding. The regulator you have is for regulating pressure, and for MIG you need to regulate flow (volume). The type you need is called a "flow meter" or a "flow gauge".JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:Lincoln etc supply such regulators with their MIGs and they work fine. We trained students on a mixed fleet of Lincoln and ESAB MIGs and used whatever was handy, regulator or flowmeter.Regulator or flowmeter, run some practice beads and set it so you get the results you want.I'd hook it up and weld.
