Just wondering if anybody can give me any pointers to help me get better on my 6010 uphill root on various dia pipe. I've successfully passed a 6g 2" bend test, but I am not happy with my root. For the past 8 months I've been doing all tig root on carbon 7018 cap. Some problems I have are that it pin holes coming into the tack. Any tips or comments are appreciated. Matt
Reply:Feather out your tack as much as possible, and hold a VERY tight arc as the keyhole closes up, almost to where the rod is through to the backside of the plate.
Reply:Ok. Are you wiping or dragging? I dunno, it just takes practice I know, but I just want to walk the old cup lol. THX.
Reply:A whip for up and drag for down, it's not much of a whip though.I'd rather be hunting........USE ENOUGH HEAT.......Drifting around Aussie welding more pipe up, for something different.....wanting to get home. |
