I made this live trap from hot roll rod. The trap is a bit heavier than the store bought traps, but it's also heavy-duty. I put a hinged door on the "food pan" end of it. the hinges are on the bottom of the door so it can fall open. I take the varmit for a ride out in the middle of no-where, i put the trap on the ground next to my drivers side, I tie a string on the end of a pin that holds the door shut and yank..... and I can release the varmit from my truck with the window down, the door falls open and the varmit runs out without the risk of turning on me.OR........ you can shoot the darn thing in the head with a Colt 45. Your choice. Attached Images
Reply:Your right about the heavy duty part. I started a business building live traps about thirty years ago. Built hundreds before I sold it to somebody just before the anti fur thing hit.I used 1/4" rod for the frame and had no problems.
Reply:Same here nearly identical design, except used 1/4" CR. Built hundreds and trapped in the evening after school. All built with a Lincoln cracker box.
Reply:I like it and want to build one...how do you make the trap close? Do you have plans?Get the window closed fast....http://www.break.com/usercontent/200...at-362524.html
