when i built my outdoor table i framed the top with channel and laid the top onthe channel. ididnt work well for clamping stuff down. when some 4 x 1/2 angle came available i used it to frame the top, works much better now Attached Images

Reply:too close to the oa tanks in the plastic shed..and too much bitumastic on the grating..cant say torch hasn't started a few controlled burms on the grass tho...
