I'm not buying this machine, I am saving my money for a Lincoln Ranger (225 GXT), but I found this online pretty cheap. I'll tell you what it is after a few opinions about it. 16HP engine, 4000W generator, Welding output current: 150A, Amp range 50-210A, Volts 26-30VDC. Run-Time 8.0 hrs., 7 gal fuel cap. But I think the welder is DC not AC.
Reply:4,000 watt? or do you mean 40,000? 40,000 watts @ 230 volts gives you 173 amps / 4,000 would only give you 17 amps. If it is what I think, and its cheap enough, it would probably be worth it for the generator alone (provided its in good working order).Last edited by papabear; 05-07-2009 at 03:31 PM."SOUTHPAW" A wise person learns from another persons mistakes;A smart person learns from their own mistakes; But, a stupid person.............never learns.

Reply:Most engine drives are reated at 100% duty cycle, this one isn't. 150 amps isn't a lot for 16 hp. CC/CV?DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:I believe my Dad's Ranger 250 has a 16 horse Onan, and it's 250 amps at 100%. What you desribe sounds a lot like a Black Max, but there are other makers with similar machines. Primarily a generator, but can weld in a pinch. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Yeah, you guessed it. It's a P.O.C. import found on Ebay. Not a very decent machine at all. Not even a very good generator. Don't worry, like I said, I'm not getting it! |
