Wanted to keep my welding table clear and needed a stand for my score on a Wilton Vice that was salvaged from the scrap pile, and at the same time, needed a grinder stand. I didn't want two stands. So...why not make a combo meal and at the same time have a permanent location for my 4" hand grinder. So here's how it all came together. Found a tractor disk for $0.20/ LB some 4" square tubing and went after it. I also wanted the grinder out of the way when using the vice. Not shown is plug in the square hole beneath the vice and cable which will power up the stand. Hope this gives a few you some ideas. Cheers.

Reply:Lots of nice details on that. Good thought and planning. I like the 4 1/2" grinder holder you fabbed. The grinder set on the side looks to be a bit unstable for what I usually do with a vise, but then even with out it, I'd probably knock it over....No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Looks better than mine, I got a piece of pipe stickin out a rim for the vise only. And the grinder has one too. I guess the reason for 2 separate stands is how I use them. The grinder would get it the way of the stuff I stick in a vice.

Reply:HI I went about the stand a little differently. I have aobut 4 of them with different tools on each. Filled the base with concrete and put wheels on them so I move them around for storage. I have a vertical belt sander and a grinder and small-table top and bead roller on stands. Attached Images |
