Which Shade 3/5 Glasses under Hood?

Hi guys. I've been lurking forever, but finally found a question I couldn't answer with the search button.My favorite hood is an (oldschool) Miller passive hood (shade 20). I've been doing a lot of stickwelding lately, and I've accidentally arc-flashed a myself a few times during setup just before flipping the hood down to weld.Do any of you guys wear shade 3 or shade 5 glasses under your hood? Reply:catalytic  -  Hood delays happen, forget the shades, shop lighting is usually poor, and you would look like the Unabomber.  The solution is simply, pay more attention during those few seconds of arc initiation.    Opus
Reply:Most clear safety glasses protect against UV light. I've been arc flashed  multiple times and never had that sandy eyed feeling wearing glasses. I will see a spot for a brief period, but no big deal. You should have some sort of safety glasses on under your hood anyways just for basic eye protection from slag/ sparks, but I wouldn't personally go with shaded ones..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
