My local welding supplier has a victor setup with tanks (own, not lease) filled for $490. Seems like a good deal to me. I believe the tanks are the same size as a 60cf argon tank. You guys think it's a decent deal? Anything specific I should know while looking at a setup like that? Will mainly be used for cutting ¼ plate.

Reply:I just bought a set of cylinders the end of April..it was $320. just for them..no torch set.
Reply:I'd want to be sure the LWS will exchange tanks rather than having to wait on being filled. I think most do. The only real advantage to owning them is no lease agreement & you should be able to get them filled most anywhere even if you move. That is as long as you keep track of your proof of ownership.I don't know how they keep track of the static test dates that must be done every few years. Maybe it's calculated in the price of the gas as it always seems to cost more per Cu. Ft. in smaller tanks.List the Mod. # of the torch/reg. set. That will go a long way to help decide how good of a deal it might be.IF IT WORKS, DON'T FIX IT2 Lincoln CV-300 / LN-7 GMALinde-VI 253,400 & 450 w/MIG35 feedersCNC Table with Oxweld O/A & Hypertherm 1250G3Lincoln Ranger GXT 250Hobart-MicroWire 300ESAB Heliarc 161ESAB-Mobilemaster 2 CC/CV Feeders& more
Reply:I believe it's the Performer 300 but I have to confirm. I'll give them a call or stop by tomorrow. I forgot to mention the setup also comes with a cart. |
