I just got another cylinder for C25. I didn't need it buy the price was so cheap it was almost free. Can anyone help me determine how many CF it is?It has 58.5" from the bottom to the top of the valve and has about a 10" diameter. It is massive compared to my 80CF.It has Norland Smith stamped on it, never heard of them, and no search results on Yahoo.Last edited by jetlag; 07-02-2009 at 08:23 PM.Hobart Handler 187Bainbridge bandsawMakita chop sawHarbor Freight 4.5" grinder

Reply:Nordan Smith is just another gas supplier like CapWeld, PraxAir, and others. Here is a map:http://www.nordansmith.com/locationdelivery/You don't have one there in Memphis, so you might as well just GIVE me the tank! I use the NS here in Jackson. I'm sure other suppliers will take the tank. If they don't, perhaps I will buy it from you. It's not what you can buy, it's what you can build.
Reply:My guess is around 280 CF. Those dimentions are relatively close to those of my O2 bottles @ 282 CF.here's one link that shows some sizes.http://www.airgas.com/content/detail...=7000000000234

Reply:Tomorrow I'm calling Nordan Smith, maybe they can tell me the status of the bottle if I give them the serial number. Then it's off to NexAir or AirGas and see what they have to say about it.If they do exchange it, I think a tank this large filled with some gas might be worth a little something. If not, I'll just keep it haha, and never run out of C25!Hobart Handler 187Bainbridge bandsawMakita chop sawHarbor Freight 4.5" grinder

Reply:I own 1 cylinder, but I have 5 cylinders I get filled. One acetelyene, 2 ox, 1 argon something and another . I "exchanged them at my local small welding shop for 282's, 330's , except for the acetyelene. I have no problem getting them filled for the last 20 years. I guess I'm glad I have a small local shop. Bigger the better since the filling costs per volume is lower.
Reply:I own all my cylinders, sizes ranging from 40 to 280 in argon, argon/mix and oxygen, A to I think C in acetylene. Airgas fills and/or exchanges them all for me, no problem. Reply:the actual volume of such a tank is less than 3 cf. i guess the rating of a tank ( the gas contained ) is a function of the pressure? a tank rated at 80 cf has 80cf of gas at atmospheric pressure squeezed into a tank of 3cf actual volume?the gas is compressed to less than 1/25th of its volume at atmospheric pressure?

Reply:Well, I called Nordan Smith in Jackson and talked to a guy who was very helpful. He said he can give me a 80CF C25 cylinder full if I returned the big boy 330CF to them. But that is about a 200mile drive for me..hahHobart Handler 187Bainbridge bandsawMakita chop sawHarbor Freight 4.5" grinder

Reply:Bumping this thread...I am looking at two used C25 tanks for sale locally on CL. One is 18" high and the other is 23" high. Is there anyway to know estimate the cu/ft for these tanks? I'm looking for a tank around 80 cu/ft. Thanks
