My first welding project - HELLO TIG CART

Soooo at first, this project was a effing disaster! Then it redeemed itself I found a filing cabinet, and cut it into two drawers. I had it in my head that I wanted to use the cabinet as a base for a cart. Good idea, I thought, until I saw it 'finished.'I couldn't even move it around the garage. It was so low it scraped, the casters were junk, $30 out the window I thought. WRONG! Let's try again...Round two...Put the filing cabinet on the ground where it belongs...And make the REAL cart! Reply:Put a nice rounded edge between the ends sticking out so you don't poke someone in the leg and your done!...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:better yet, tig some sharp knives on the ends and when someone asks what those are for, well you get the point  you could have used the filing cabinet... build a frame with casters and sit it and the tank on the frame, then the welder on the cabinet.. i was thinking of using a small craftsman 3 drawer tool box for my tig, and still may yet do it yet..  i have a craftsman 3 drawer rollaround, it has the small flip up lid covering the bottom storage space..  was thinking that the flip up door compartment would make a awesome spot for a tig cooler and then the drawers for consumables.. still thinking i might do it...Last edited by brucer; 11-11-2010 at 08:59 PM.

Reply:why narrow the legs together instead of splay outward or parallel?  Seems like it ends up a bit narrower and more tip potential?I like the file cabinet idea as a base structure.. You can cut some holes in the side, mount an HVAC filter, and a walmart box fan for forced clean air into the cabinet, and then let the air out past / through the welder and through a raddiator on the other side of the cabinet as a diy water tig cooler...miller syncrowave 250hobart handler 140home made 400 amp engine driven in progress...
