Question on running outershield fluxcore wire

I always thought you should'nt whip and such using gas shielded fluxcore wire. I always run straight stringers and a weave when doing vert up. Today i noticed a guy i work with whipping and doing triangle/ circle patterns using this wire. I thought that was ideal with hardwire not fluxcore do to the slag trapping. Is it alright to using different patterens when using outershield wire. ThanksShaneYa gotta spend money to make money!
Reply:Stick with stringer beads as they have a tighter grain structure making them stronger.Also depending on how big of weld when weaving can cause excessive heat buildup which could be detrimental to the weld and base material.And in my opinion your correct that moving in and out of weld pool could allow for slag to be trapped. Reply:I run with a slight whip/weave i find it helps bind in the edges and keeps the weld uniform *** longas you keep the weld pool fluid and not the the slag solidify it works out fine.
Reply:What position is the whipping and pausing taking place?  A slight motion is generally acceptable in vert up, but I wouldn't use a full whip and pause in any of the positions.
Reply:For what it is worth, if I am welding vertical up with gas shielded flux cored or gas metal arc welding, I use a slight weave.Under no circumstances would I use a whipping motion as I would with a 6010 or 6011. You made move your gun  closer or back away to control the stick out which will increase or decrease puddle viscosity but I would not charecterize this as a whipping motion.
