Even a Synchro 250 will weld bitchin' on aluminum with 2% thoriated.And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:it may be old but it still the samei all ways use 2% thoriated even on alum.untill i bought my Dynasty 200 (inverter)i still use 2% thor on steel and stainless steelon the 200 but the 2% ceriaed does workbetter with a inverter on alum. i have a lot oftungsten and did not want to buy more but i tryed the 2% ceriaed on alum. it does makea diff. with alum. and a inverter welder Attached ImagesLast edited by ed mac; 07-16-2009 at 09:00 PM.
Reply:Thanks for the tip, I will definitely give it a try. This is not the first time I've heard that 2% ceriated holds up & works better on alum.
Reply:My favorite all around is lanthanated.1.5 or 2%. Restarts using ceriated is not as reliable as lanthanated.Seems I have to keep grinding the ceriated to get reliable starts.
