ok i know flashing uphill makes a strong weld but i was wandering would it be as air tight as a 1g weld. i know mig leaves some pin holes esp. if there is porosity in the weld. so what i am asking is if both welds are done properly with no porosity would the 1g weld be more likely to hold air pressure than the flashed weld. i would think that it would be more likely to leak with the flashed weld.
Reply:I've never even heard of a flashed weld.
Reply:flashed is what i call a uphill weld 3g with mig but insted on going up from side to side to form a shelf you weld and pause weld and pause to form a shelf for the next bead
Reply:In The UK we call it Vertical UpYou can either do a route run first for you can fill the root as you go up in a triangular spiral motion
Reply:wow, ive never learned how to do that
