2 TIG questions - pulse and minilog?

Finally remembered that my Kempotig 250 ACDC has additional functions that I haven't been using and didn't know how to get them working, so I went out and figured them out.  Now I want to know why the hell I should use them!Firstly is pulse - My welder came with a pulse box.  Why use it?  The only possible use I can see at this stage is for thin aluminium, which I successfully melted the crap out of today when trying to do a T joint.  But then again, I couldn't get a T-joint done at all on mild steel before this afternoon, then got the hang of it and laid down a pretty decent one, so I suspect the aluminium is just a matter of practice away also (and I realised I had the amps up too high).  What do you lot use pulse for (if at all)?Secondly, the Minilog function on my Kemppi, which allows the upslope etc to be adjusted.  You can simply turn it off, set the amps and pull the trigger, and away you go - gas, HF start and arc all starts instantly and runs at some preset, until you release the trigger.  If you turn the Minilog on, things get more complicated.  Click and release the trigger once, it puffs a small amount of gas out, then stops.  Click and release the trigger again, the HF starts going off, until you click the trigger a third time and start the arc.  Then to stop the arc, you have two choices:  the first is to click and release, which returns you to having HF dancing all over the place.  Then if you click again, the arc restarts.  If you want to stop completely however, you need to hold the trigger for a couple of seconds before releasing it, and it will then go dead from whichever stage its at.Why the hell would I want to hold HF on the piece before firing up the arc, or indeed return back to HF from an arc?  Aside from why would I want to hit the button 3 times to get to the stage of having a puddle, why have a quick burst of gas that stops before the HF.....  I really don't understand the point of this function at all?Thanks in advance....
