Reply:man i love the aluminum boats i have been entertaining the idea of building one for my self from one of the kits that are available out there.what process are you using to weld the hulls?any more pics of the interior of them?After the arc has died the weld remains
Reply:Me to thats the main reason why i went into welding was to learn how to build alu boat the only problem i have is i still havn't built my own boat lol maybe one day i will. what kits you looking at ? the boats are all mig welded  the only pulse mig is the bow weld  and there is tig welding done on the fuel pipes in the boat too no i don't have any interior pics of them sorry

Reply:there are somany kits that look good out there i havent chosen one but it will be a while before i can think about that seriously.i am looking to get a welder that can do al and i was wondering what model/you guys are using i was thinking of starting to build some rod racks and a top for my buddy's boat and some racks for the surf fishing crew excreta ....After the arc has died the weld remains
Reply:thanks for the compliments  the cast repair was done with tig and 4340 filler (lol i belive i got the numbers right) its actually a repair of a repair on a duramax diesel water pump off a buddies truck. I use miller invision 305xmt power unit with a push pull miller feeder and 30a gun 5356 3/64 wire the hulls are 5086 1/4 inch hulls for the 20 ft boats and 5/16 5086 for the 25ft and up hulls. i use a lincoln 255 with a profax spoll gun at home it works great. i learned to weld alu with a old hand crank dial millerLast edited by abec; 12-19-2010 at 08:27 PM.
