Reply:I'd heat them up and punch and drift the holes myself.[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuVVkIZxh2w[/ame]Since they are a spike anyways, you could simply forge a point and drive them into the wood also. You couldn't find any better spikes?.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:that video is cool. dad found these some years back and ive been hanging on to them for quite a while. can they be heated with O/A and have a nail with the head cut off drove thru them?Zach WareOwnerMid-GA Outdoor & Equipment ServiceByron GA478-960-2014
Reply:It sounds like you are wanting to mount the spike end on a plank and use the head for a coat rack. If so that is a cool Idea As for drilling, a drill press, slow speed and cutting oil should work. A neat trick on the nails or screws you mount them with: Add a blob of metal to the head after you drive it home (mig, tig, stick, dont matter) and before it cools, whack it on four sides with a hammer. Tada, instant "hand forged" nail. If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. Reply:midGAoutdoorRegardless of how you make the hole. Your spikes warrants a square bolt head.Opus
Reply:aren't nails usually way too soft to be used for this type of thing?
Reply:I would use a drillpress, myself. Just go slow and use coolant. |
