I did a search before asking but didn't come up with anything so here goes. Has anyone made a 3 point quick hitch for a tractor? I am considering making one for mine. I have looked at two different types one type attaches to all three points and one slips over the bottom arms. Any ideas as to which is best? Drawings or pictures would be great. Anything to look out for would be great too.

Reply:I was a farmer before going into welding, and the best one is the one that attaches to all three. What type of category hitch do you need?  I know Harbor Freight and Tractor Supply stores sells the category 1, and 2, and can be purchased cheaper than you can build it, unless you already have all the material. The ones that slip over the arms are nice, but you still have to get down and hook the top link, and the other one, you don't, just back, lift and go. If you build it, post pics.Good luck and Happy New Year!
Reply:The rigid frame QH requires that all of the implements have exactly the right dimensions to fit on it. There is some sort of standard measure but you might find just about anything.HF has them for cheaper than you can probably buy the metal. They have a 25% off coupon for Jan. 1.http://www.harborfreight.com/3-point...nce-97214.htmlTractor Supply also has them but for quite a bit more money.http://www.tractorsupply.com/agricul...-cat-1-0267563If the implements are the same pattern you are good to go with a rigid frame. You could also modify all of your implements to fit whatever frame size you build.Lots of farmers go with the Pat's Quick Change system since it is adaptable to any pin width. It would be hard to fab something like that.http://www.thearg.com/pats-easy-chan...-connects.html

Reply:Best to look at existing designs, then come up with "the best of the best" for your application.  It was the way I built my front end loader, and I've really been pleased with it"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:i agree with the others. You can't build one for what Harbor Freight sells the for. I use one on my Farm tractor and it works great. I just eleminated he hook and use the pins for top link. If you need a motification for the bottom pins, it's usally just reversing the pins on the implement. I got mine on sale about 5 years ago for $59 and used a 20% coupon. I couldn't buy the steel for that. They work well and are easily modified if needed.
