I had a customer call me up with a tractor stuck by the river bottom b/c of a gear box. He said it was cast and i have welded cast but nothing that matteredd much chair legs and such. I just want to verify my methods are correct. Bevel the crack out, pre heat, weld, ping, post heat. My boss has also told me that cast can be welded with a 7018. Reply:It depends, to do the repair right you first need to figure out what kind of cast it is. The repair procedure will be determined by that. There are guides online to figuring out what kind of cast material it is.Have we all gone mad? |
