I'm making something to use to mount ammo cans on the back of my van.Essentially it' sa 2"x2" tube coming up from the hitch receiver mount. Because of the way the receiver is built, and in order to make it fit, the tube must make two 45 degree bends up around the rear fender. No problem there, just welding some tube. But it also needs to rotate about 15 degrees as it goes vertical so that the sides of the tube are square with the rear. How best to weld that? I figure interpose a flat piece in between to get a good edge.Rob

Reply:I thought of something like that, but I'd have problems isolating the twist to just the bottom 8" of the upright. The upper part has to be square.Or maybe twist a piece and weld it in?

Reply:You can always heat the piece and the quench the part you need to isolate from the bend to cool it before you twist..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
