This is the start of my welding cart, It will have three shelves. The bottom for storage, or maybe a drawer. the middle will hold my Mitec plasma cutter and a future W300 water cooler and the top will hold me 250ex tig and I-Mig 200, there is room for two bottles of any size I may need. I will be adding holders for my cables, peddle and filler rod.Pic # 1 is the basic frame layoutPic # 2, 3, 4, are different views of the frame and main upright shelf tabs and attachment plates for the wheels and casters. I'm new to welding and trying to learn all I can. This site has been a great resource for me Thanks Attached Images

Reply:Ram48:Don't worry, just keep posting your pictures. This is a welding site and this section is about projects and pictures not about the quality or quantity of your welds. We all started at the beginning and from what I can see you do quality work. Good welds are about some knowledge and a LOT of practise. There are many accomplished welders and fabricators on this site that are highly skilled and very willing to help out.We are not all professional welders. My family has over a 100 years of welding experience but I myself am a semi retired Telecom engineer who does it as a hobby and in support of my little ranch.Continue to post your pictures and ask any questions you need. We all like watching your projects progress.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...

Reply:Hey Ram48, I sent you a pm.
Reply:Originally Posted by Ram48Monica. I just finished the table the other day. (there is a thread here with some pics)I like the slats and they are 1/2 inch thick. One is not as flat as the others but I can work around that easily I attached them with a clamp system that I made up and the details of that is in the table post also. Thanks everyone for the help and support I have received from the WW regulars. Ray Mc

Reply:Here are the completed shots of the cart project. Well except for the tig rod holders. thanks everyone for the welding tips and thoughts on the cart. it was a fun project and I learned a bit along the way. (I went from really suck at this to just bad at it) I will practice and keep at it and I hope it will come. The top and middle shelves are corian and the bottom shelf is mdf board. the plate that the tanks sit on is 1/4 steel plate. All are painted Hammertone black. Attached Images
Reply:Originally Posted by 7A749Looks good & well thought out. You can purchase 1" square tubing plugs at ACE hardware & seal off your end tubes. It gives it a finished, professional look & is cheap & easy to install. Here's a link to some accessories I made for my TIG machine. Hope it helps you out a little http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...TIG+rod+holderA word of suggestion... Ditch the rear wheels & go in favor of something a little bigger & heavier. A pair of good 8"-10" phenolic wheels would do quite nicely. Ebay has a lot of good used wheels for cheap.Reason being, is that even tho the machines you have on it are light weight, over time those smaller soft base wheels will get flat on the bottom. It would be an easy fix & you would only have to modify your front casters to match the lift the rear wheels give it. Going heavier on the front wheels wouldn't be a bad idea either.I have been there & done that with soft, cheap wheels on running gear. Go with something more solid & with more of a load rating & you won't have to go thru tearing it all down to replace wheels in the future.IMHO of course.
Reply:Yup , the wheels need to be upgraded, and second,..... I want that "GAS PUMP" in the back ground.
Reply:Please be careful welding in the garage with that nice car nearby.  Sometimes a weld will give a pop and can send BB's flying quite a ways.  And I hope that's not gasoline in the can above the generator!  Remember..................Safety First!!By the way, real nice job on your cart.  And the table too.  Very useful design!"The man of great wealth owes a peculiar obligation to the State, because he derives special advantages from the mere existence of government."  Teddy RooseveltAmerican by birth, Union by choice!  Boilermakers # 60America is a Union.
Reply:Ram,    Sorry couldn't critique those welds because of the car in the background! Olds? Looks like an Olds 442 convert.???? I love the garage decorations also. We all live and learn form our projects. Looks like a great cart, can't wait to see the end result!!!

Reply:I took the advice of those that thought the 6 inch  wheels and 3 inch casters  were too small. They were as the rear wheels flat spotted over night, they were semi pneumatic and I guess too soft for my purpose. The new wheels are 8 inch solid rubber with steel center and ball bearings. the  front casters are 4 inch poly with steel centers rated at 330 lbs each. It rolls and looks better now.In the picture the old set is on the floor.I also am going to change the tank support system. I have some 35 chain that I may use to secure the tanks and add something to the bottom plate also. Attached Images
Reply:I added a fire extinguisher, tig rod holders and capped the ends of the sq tube. I also changed the type of chain holding the tanks. Attached Images
