Bought this lathe a few months back. South Bend Mod 10K. Really clean and practically no wear.Love the lathe but the lumber/plywood bench sucks.Had to do something...can't have crappy looking stuff in my garage...what would the neighbors say!Sketched up a set of legs and cross-braces in SolidWorks.Decided to build this inside the existing bench so I didn't have to take the lathe apart.(hold comments...this will take three posts.)Pic 1: Here's the lathe with the lumber stand it came with...ugly.Pic 2: All the legs and braces welded up..3x3x.125 and 1x1x.125 CS.Pic 3: Weld close-up...MM211, .030 ER70S-6, auto-set for 1/8", C25 @ 15 cfh. Reply:Pic 7: Legs/braces back from the powder coater...$150 to blast and coat...did I pay too much?Pic 8: All put together and bolted up tight. So that's it. Thanks for looking. Now what to do with that large space under the lathe...Hmmmmmmm. (stay tuned). Reply:JoeDirt,Here's the cart....http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=38570I've posted some other threads showing the cable hangers and handles if your interested. Search posts by BTD and you'll see 'em.Mark,211 it is. I can't say enough good things about that machine. I'm a novice welder and wouldn't attempt any mission-critical stuff (automotive suspension, trailer hitches, etc) but for the occasional cart/bench/bracket it's perfect...makes me look almost good (almost).Miller 211 w/ spool gunMiller Dynasty 200DXLongevity 60i IGBT plasmaO/A w/ crappy chinese torch/gaugesSouth Bend 10K latheGrizzly 4029 10x54 millGrizzly 7x12 hor bandsawangle grnders, bench grnder, bench belt sndr7.5 hp 80gal cmprsor

Reply:I think your cart is one of the best on here. Nothing flashy, just pure 'oh fook yeah!' Nice legs! I think the plywood surround needs a couple coats of Miller blue! 200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
