Lookin at buying on whats it worth nice trailer it runs good looks good how long will it last and what is it worth thanks guys
Reply:Price can be affected by your location. I got my 302 in Illinois from a guy that just didn't want it anymore. Two years old, 200 hours, 100 ' cable, $2000.00. This was a steal of a deal.    You may want to post this on the Miller site where a couple of guys that service these machines would have a realistic idea from experience. http://www.millerwelds.com/resources...ng-Discussions
Reply:The machine is 4200 new. I personally wouldn't pay over 1000$ for that many hours, as far as im concerned its engine time.I forgot how to change this.
Reply:The average life of those engines is 3000 hrs...or so they say... I'm sure that can vary. I wouldn't pay over $1500 for it and that's is still a lot.Paying the cost to be the boss!!!
Reply:Hours are relative as to how the previous owner used the machine. Running 1/8" rod all day? Not much of a problem. Many hours of heavy arc airing? Shorter life.

Reply:2500 hours is getting up there for a gas rig... I've taken a couple of those as trade-ins and we gave the customer between $900 and $1500 depending on condition. It may be worth a couple grand depending on overall condition, the trailer and accessories that come with. A couple hundred feet of 2/0 for example would set you back at least $500 at your local distributor and a small welding trailer can run a couple grand new.President & SalesAdvanced Wear Coatings, Inc. Reply:So best I could talk him down to is 2250 like it sits should I buy it
Reply:Comes down to a few things.1) First, what BD1 pointed out regarding regional demand/pricing.  I trust you've done your "local" homework?2) Do you have a $2250 "need" for it?3) Similarly, is it worth $2250 to YOU.4) Most importantly, can the owner offer any performance/service history?5) Finally, with 2500hrs on the unit, are you prepared to put half the purchase price in a major repair should it be required a few hundred hours down the road.  I'm not saying it will be required but it is something that should be considered in light of the current run hours.IMO of course.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:looks like a rental unit to me.  if it is (or was at one time) i would say that the hours would be compounded based on how these things are used.  most rental units get beat pretty hard.  1k or less IMOP.

Reply:Wouldn't do it personally... over half of new for a machine you need to assume has 80% of it's life behind it. However, this is coming from somebody who was a rep for a distributor for the last several years and took everything in based on what it would be worth to a customer, so if you feel it's worth it proceed.President & SalesAdvanced Wear Coatings, Inc.
