Got a dream rig in your head? Describe it. 4x4? Dually? Diesel? Four door? Big rig with a 50 foot trailer to tow all your crap in? I mean scrap. The sky is the limit. Lets hear them!Ranger 305gMillermatic 140 AutosetDewalt Chopsaw2 grindersMy Fists

Reply:Toys don't even belong on the list until they can supply a 1 ton diesel dually. (that won't rot out in a year of hard use..)Seriously..Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
Reply:I'll play along...Now I'm not a pro welder, so I don't need a massive truck, so my ultimate rig would have to be an old 1980's Hilux. Undecided on a single can, or dual cab though. single cab would give more tray area, That is only because its my first car, and I always kind of missed it when dad got rid of it.Of course it would not be my bread and butter, but a project truck, but if I could get an old "project" engine driven welder to go on the back of it, that would be great, and if the welder could function as a genset for other tasks, grinding etc, as well as blackouts at home etc.. that would be awesome. At the very least, I'd have to have an alternator welder in it. Thats probably where I'd start, I don't see too many old engine driven welders kicking about hereWith the truck, and the welder/s sorted, next would be tools. I'm picturing an oxy set strapped to the back, and some nice metal toolboxes, filled with draws of nicely laid out tools. I was thinking, if I had a dualcab, the back seats could give way for a sweet custom toolbox, leaving the rest of the tray for other treats.I'd have to jam an air compressor in there too. I'd picture a nice solid sized one, i guess running via AC from the welder on the back.Of course, out the back, I'd have somewhere to work, with a nice solid vice, and plenty of flat area. And a crane. I'd need a way to get stuff on and off.It would probably be a squeeze with everything, and I'm not sure the old truck would like too much weight, but as this is a dream, does it matter? lolI'm sure many of you guys would have similar to what I've described, with a different truck, and use it on a daily basis. That's my dream "TOY". of course, then I'd need to find some serious other projects to play with the toy. LolLast edited by stiffman; 10-17-2012 at 07:25 PM.Reason: adding some at the bottom

Reply:It would be the bed I have now on a newer dually Dodge diesel 4x4. My old 89 GMC dually 4x4 has been a great truck and it will last me until I retire but it would be nice to have a newer diesel truck. Attached Images

Reply:you left off Sterling, they make a nice looking truck not sure how they are running and what it has in it for power in fact I need to check that out for myself.
Reply:Sorry Ron, Sterling has been long gone for a few years. I love Tom V's rig from the heavy equipment forum. He has my set up on steroids, 10 wheeler Petercar, with everything on it. I want to get an M35A2 and do my thing to it, red top Cummins, 18 speed, aluminum service body, crane etc.....Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:A Cummins in a King Ranch, with a Vantage riding out back. Ranchasized (ranch hands front & rear), with and extra 50 gal fuel tank hidden somewhere. Paint it all black, so the SS Vantage stands out.Constant Current Weldor.

Reply:The bottom, back of the box is vented. The bottom is where I keep my chains and boomers so I don't mind if water and dirt get in there. I leave the reg's on the bottles all the time with it enclosed. That alone was worth building the box. Plus the hoses have lasted way longer than any I've kept out in the weather.
