heres a hint
Reply:slides onto the drive splines of a transmission or gear box
Reply:never seen one like that b4 but its a direct drive adapter for some kind of manual transmission.
Reply:maybe.. direct drive for a powerglide. I've seen where guys run no stall. just a ball valve DayePound to fit, paint to match
Reply:Ueah, I vote drive coupler too, but for Ford.I'm not sure about being for an automatic because there's no pump-drive provision visible.Last edited by denrep; 02-04-2011 at 07:45 PM.

Reply:yep. direct drive for a ford compact. Im not racing it. I just made it. I told him if he gets caught and gets it confiscated I'll kick his *** tho. I put more than a few hours into it LOL
Reply:What'dya do? Bore and sleeve to use a clutch plate's hub?Doesn't seem like the input shaft spline would extend so far forward, but I suppose it must.So no need for the inertia of a heavier flywheel?Last edited by denrep; 02-04-2011 at 09:59 PM.
Reply:Nope, just stomp on the loud pedal & it goes.Dirt tracks need rapid acceleration, rapid deceleration. We could use them on the IMCA cars running a Powerglide. It had a handle that would allow the pump pressure to build just like a clutch, once all the way forward, it would go over center to "lock" it in gear. Then it could be shifted as usual. Our Pro-AM 3/8 mile car would come out of turn 2 & 4 at 5600 RPM, would hit turns 1 & 3 at 6800-7200 RPM. 355 Cubic inches of small block chevy with a solid lifter cam (no rollers allowed), Holley 4412 carb (500 CFM 2 barrel) & a $350.00 motor claim. We were putting out close to 400 horses out of those motors if set up correctly. And, no rules were broken, just bent a bit.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build

Reply:Nice work.Sometimes flange-screws or cap-screws will help with close clearance.Whatd'ya mean by "Sure LOL," the flywheel?Good Luck

Reply:i have one for a 904 dodge but it has the pump drive on it with a valve to control main pressure. hub is cracked though
Reply:I'm an asphalt guy but regardless I would stick to a small diameter multi disc clutch and stay away from the direct drive that the sprint cars use.On a side note, I saw Dirt Sprint cars on asphalt last year. What a rush, 11 second laps on a 3/8" mile trackScottFab ManagerWelders360.comNew guy.
Reply:Yeap, give the sprinters a bit of traction, there aren't many cars than can catch em. I timed the Modified Late Model cars on the 3/8 mile track (big motors, big fuel, lots of HP) and they were running around 16 seconds. IMCA Modified ran 17-18.5 seconds, Pro-AM cars anywhere from 19-22 seconds. Sprinters on the same track (Outlaw Sprinters with the wings) 15-16.5 seconds. All this was on dirt tracks. Add pavement, cut about 3-5 seconds off everybody's time. Traction is the key.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build
