Hi guys,I have this italian inverter Telwin 228. It can be transformed to TIG buying the kit shown in the picture below. The problem is it cost USD$260, a little pricey considering I already have the work clamp and I cannot exchange the torch, a SR9V.So I will buy my stuff on inthernet and would like to get some advisory while choosing the right elements.Cheers,Luis Attached Images
Reply:So I made a little research an found a Radnor Dinse plug and gas hose suitable for 9 and 17 torches. http://www.airgas.com/browse/product...ct=RAD64005715The catalog says it comes with a --- Radnor® Model DA-917FS .355" Dinse Machine Plug With 18" Auxiliary Gas Hose With 5/8"-18RH Nut And 3/8"-24RH Power Cable Connection --- so I will need the power connector and the torch(es). I found this Radnor cable, I think it won't need any adaptor to fit into the dinse plug, right?http://www.airgas.com/browse/product...ct=RAD64005642Cheers,Luis Attached Images
Reply:http://www.ebay.com/itm/WP-9V-12E-2-...item5d2f4907ec I think that + Ar regulator + bottle + Tungstens and you should be set.Lincoln 175HD
Reply:If that machine has the gas fitting at the back of the machine and a hole in the dinse connector where gas flows through the connector then you dont want those airgas parts. If it has a flow through connector you are looking for a 1 piece power/gas cable and a flow through dinse connector. (basically the same setup as a lincoln square wave 175 for example)http://www.arc-zone.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=772something like this, and http://www.arc-zone.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=301Then you'd need a regulator and gas hoseEbay will have them cheaper but this will give a good start on what your looking for. That airgas piece you have shown would work on something like a Miller Dynasty where there is a gas connection on the front of the machine seperate from the dinse connectors.
Reply:Thanks,The telwin inverter does not have a gas fitting at the back, then I will need the airgas connector. The dinse connector I showed comes with a 18" gas hose included:http://www.airgas.com/browse/product...ct=RAD64005715so I only need a 25" or 12" power/gas cable like this:http://www.ebay.com/itm/390451610446...84.m1438.l2649http://www.ebay.com/itm/Weldcraft-25...&forceRpt=trueMy machine reaches the 180Amp, so I think I should not go beyond 9 and 17 torches. Any recommendations on what torches and accessories to buy? I'm visiting US by the end of the month and want to purchase a good starter kit? Any recommended brand for the regulator?Cheers Originally Posted by ironmangqIf that machine has the gas fitting at the back of the machine and a hole in the dinse connector where gas flows through the connector then you dont want those airgas parts. Reply:OK, learning a lot in the process.According to Weldcraft website, torches with gas valve are needed when using power sources without gas solenoids. That's my case, so I purchased:A Weldcraft WP-17V torch:http://www.buyweld.com/wp-17v-25-2.htmlbut without the 25' gas/power cable, which lacks of the one-piece dinse power connector. Weldcraft has the Q5G-150, but I ended up buying the Radnor DA-917FS with the 18" gas hose. Looks like I will need a gas hose extension to the regulator...Also,  a  Weldcraft AK2 accessory kit:http://store.cyberweld.com/tigtoackit.htmlAnd finally, the 57Y02 Long back cap:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Weldcraft-57...30815463106%26
