What dose all the equitment (welding bed touches bottles and welder) along with all your tools weigh? Me and my dad where talking about that the other day about just how much weight there is on a welding truck. Now I know most of y'all have made or coustomed the welding bed so I know numbers arnt all going to be the same
Reply:My 1 ton GM with bed, tools, bottles and a Lincoln SA200 would cross the scales at 11,500 #.Lincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.
Reply:I don't have a generator welder on the truck, but my 11' utility body on my 4wd F550 diesel tips the scales at almost 14K with the average tool complement in the boxes. My buddies F550 2 wd diesel 11' service truck runs almost 20K with the Trailblazer and torches on the truck with the crane and mechanics tools..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:There has been a lot of talk on other forums about this topic. It seems the rig weldors are having to abide by DOT regs if their rigs are two heavy. The one main complaint is the work hours. Even though they're not driving, they're considered "on duty"."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:I run a F-350 4x4 crew cab and with it loaded to work my last weight was 12,400 lbs. I have a 9' bed and both sides with tool bins above and below bed and loaded with tools for heavy equipment repair as well.
Reply:I scale almost 15k in my truck, but I have an 11 foot body and a crane.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:My 300d weighs about 1500lbs, two oxygen bottles and two acetylene bottles= another 400ish lbs. 4-6 jack stands = about 200lbs, 4 or so boxes of rods = 200lbs+ leads and hoses= another 200lbs , plus 1500-2500 lbs for the custom bed so just in equipment about 5000lbs, and if I had to guess I'd say that number is light by 1000lbs or so
