Reply:Just a guess but it might be an 8018 due to the tensile and and the idea of an "igniter tip"but it is just a guess. By the condition of the can there will be flux in the can that has come off of the rod. It says good for all steels so it should work.
Reply:May be a discontinued part, I can't find it in the current Techniweld catalog: http://www.techniweld.com/products.htmYou might be able to send them an email inquiry and get the comploete scoop.- MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.
Reply:Many proprietary rods from manufacturers like Certanium, etc. don't have AWS numbers, and aren't approved for code work. As said, they are probably similar to an 8018 and should work fine for most non-code work.
