Hey guys. I got the stuff but have not done any Tig welding yet, just doing Mig. But been looking at all the good info, projects done by Tig. I am very impressed, to say the least! I have read something a short while back about a new welding process called Tip Tig. It uses a wire like Mig, too!There was a post in Gen. Welding forum @ Aug. '09 about it but I was hoping that someone here in Welding Web that got one. And maybe Chris at Welding Design could give an update here or a link to an article in their magazine on the availability of the machine,costs,etc.. What's y'alls say 'bout that? Reply:Go to Weld Reality.com. It is a hot wire tig set up for manual and fully auto. It is neat.I have seen welds produced by it. Looking at about 10K as I re-call for the wire feed and hot wire power source. It will work with any industrial quality unit. The drive roll moves linearly back and forth while feeding the wire. Ed Craig is the prime guy in USA for thr units. he has the web site also.

Reply:Its not just the hot wire aspect of the process that makes it appealing, because hot-wire TIG is nothing new. It biggest selling point is the travel speeds and deposition rates that can be achieved because of how the filler enters the puddle. It supposedly "stirs" the puddle as the wire is added, breaking surface tension and making the puddle more fluid.This gains more penetration and allows more filler to be added without risk of cold lap. I have no experience with the process, this is just from what ive read about it in the past. They were offering free training courses in my area around christmas time, looking back I really wish I would have made time to go.Have we all gone mad?

Reply:Thanks, Snoborder88. As I mentioned in another post, I did not know about hot wire tig. I will look into that, also. They had a meeting in September '09 that I would liked to go to but didn't. They'll probably have more meetings for this year and maybe closer by.
