hey guys, probably a bit of a noob question here.  I recently started practicing some stick welding, and when I searched for aluminum electrodes, they all indicate they are for DC use only.I thought aluminum was strictly AC.  Is the only the case when using TIG?

Reply:Not that I do any aluminum stick welding, but that's good news if I ever need to, I'd rather stick weld with dc than ac anyways.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Al 345 I believe it is run DC reverse  (EP)I love these things....a little pricey but I thnk in a sense I prefer these to the spoolmate/millermatic I used to have.  I can run them with minimal power requirements on my little hobart 150sti with great results. No bottles/no ac tig.  You just need to get used to almost falling into the weld pool because of the rate the rod burns at.
