I'm on my 3rd welder a mm212 and i figured i'd show some practice welds. I just started welding about a 1 1/2 ago. I started with a mm135 welder. I just took some advice from other ppl and practiced at my house. I found a nice dvi welder and sold the mm135 to buy the dvi. Two weeks ago i found a good deal on a new mm212 so i sold my DVI for $1000 and bought the mm212. Just wondering what you guys think of my welds. Attached Images
Reply:get your workpiece to bare metal before you weld, trust me, it makes a huge difference. It is definitely worth your time, your welds will be stronger, and look better. It looks like your welder may be set a little cold since I'm not really sure what kind of material you are using, I can only judge by the lack of heat rings around your welds. What I do if I don't know exactly where to set the machine, is go hotter than I think it needs, then if it burns through, you know the limit of that material, back it off some and you should get good penetration without burning through. Do that on a scrap piece, not your work. I have a 212 also, I like to set the wire speed a number higher than the voltage as a starting point and adjust as needed. Keep practicing, this is how I got started too, I just kept at it (not that I'm a pro, far from it). There is no failure...only feedback
Reply:Its mild steel i'm been practicing on. YOu can't tell from the pics but its down to bare metal. Also when i flipped the piece over i had good penitration.
Reply:well, I guess you got it all covered. Good work! There is no failure...only feedback |
