Reply:Two words - Very Nice.
Reply:Been watching this on and off. Never thought about the bike this was going on. You may have the first bike where the handle bars are now worth more than the bike.I can however say, I really appreciate the effort you have put into those bars. How even are they? Top to bottom, left to right, front to back?
Reply:looks great man!
Reply:Looks great, nice work, your gonna get hurt.
Reply:agree^^^ they'd be beautiful wall decorations , but not so hot decorating the side of a highway. push them forward & pull them rearward & twist them left to right with ALL your might & you'll see how they'll just fold up....miller 330a bp TIGmiller dynasty 200DX TIGmillermatic 185 MIGthermal dynamics cutmaster 101 plasma cuttersnap-on YA5550 plasma cutterhypertherm powermax 30 plasma cutterbaileigh CS225 cold sawetc....
Reply:well, you should start practicing the no-hander panic stop right now.mabe take Keith Codes racing class where you learn hot to ride a racebike with no handlebar (contols mounted on a dummy bar set)? -of course that bike has outrigger training wheels.looks neat.should not be used. it's at very least wreckless endangerment.
Reply:Looks like it corners as well as a brick. Do your hands fall asleep after a 10 minute ride?

Reply:I've done many MSF demos with semi-apes while in the Air Force, and the classic ape layout doesn't interfere with efficient countersteering. I also demo'ed slamming my then-new FXR from footpeg mount to footpeg mount on the concrete (HDs have a rather low center of gravity) and commented that if countersteering (which is actually the only way motorcycles steer) deliberately applied works with that setup the class shouldn't be afraid of their sport bikes.Harleys (I like other brands too) are the kind of bike you can easily buy and run for decades. Am there and done/doing that.Racers they aren't, but it's quite practical to go well over 100K miles with an Evo or later engine, and it's more practical to service and rebuild them than all other large motorcycles. I bought my '88 FXR so I could beat the guano out of it, park it outdoors, and use it for my main transportation which I did for several years. Now I've accumulated lots of other vehicles, but it's still tagged and runs fine. Anyone interested in an HD, take advantage of the economy to grab a used one! A lot of old pharts who obviously bought them as toys are selling theirs. Prices have dropped back down to where normal humans can do what they did back when Shovels and Pans were cheap, and buy them to ride 'em.Last edited by farmall; 03-18-2011 at 08:38 PM.

Reply:A Honda at the tittie bar... Wow your cool man, sure wish I was you. All BULLSH!T aside, them bars look like death to me. I know how I ride the hell out of my AMERICAN MADE bike, and it takes a beating. I would never ride with them. Good luck falling down again. You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. Albert Einstein
Reply:Who knows on the ape hanger bars, not me but... we'll see. Ok, I'm in my Toyota Tacoma and come to the stoplight in the right lane. The A/C is on, it's Az and 100+ outside. Two fellas on Harleys ride up next to me in the fast lane and sqeak to a stop at red light. They are decked out; brand new black Harleys with more chrome than a Caddy and outfits! All black leather, heavily stitched with HD on every pocket and sleeve. I see no helmets, they don't want to mess up the HD scarves wrapped around their bald heads. I can't help it, it is my sarcastic nature I suppose, I rolled down the window, got their attention and yelled. "What accounting firm are you boys with anyhow?" Reply:I must also admit that the comments about others being pussies, lacking experience, not knowing about what it is like to ride a bike that has ape hangers is a real jewel of a description of other riders whom he doesn't know or what their history, age, riding experience, time in the motorcycle industry or time in the paramedics may be. Obviously he is unable to recognize those who are voicing concerns left nuts most likely have more miles, experience and made more mistakes than a guy that is riding a Honda wanna be.I know the bikers you are trying to emulate and buddy none of them ride a Honda, or if they did they would never tell anybody (kinda like ****ing a fag).

It just slightly bent them. It took me and my buddy both pulling the hell out of them to bend them back to the somewhat original position. I thought they would break if I bent them back but they diddn't so, thats all the assurance that I will ever need. If 850lbs can barley bend my welded chain, then I'm good in my eyes and thats all that matters
Reply:Thats what I thought too. But I think he really is that stupid.
Reply:Regardless of the veracity of the story, pegs don't take much of a hit in a parking lot tipover. They can't literally save the "whole bike" unless they are set up like the slickly-designed case guards on a Hondapottamus (Gold Wing) that can actually halt (some) tipovers. This is what I was curious about, more specifically, the more technically demanding skills of riding |
